I don't think it's 100% fair for me to always be the guild leader. And I've been wondering if we should hold elections. So I'll put it up to a vote.
If we decide to hold elections, this would be my suggestion on how to do it. We vote in two rounds, runoff style. Round 1, I create a poll with the top 10 players names. The top five vote getters move on to the second round. The top three vote getters from the second round would get the top three guild positions. In the event of a tie for #1, we would add the votes from the first round of voting.
There would have to be a time limit, too, to make sure everyone gets a chance to weigh in. I guess a week for each round would be good. And, in order for this to be legitimate, at least 10 members would need to vote in each of the three polls, including this referendum.
What does the leadership position entail? Well, the leader is responsible for keeping the guild strong. So recruitment of strong new members is the #1 task. That means posting on forums like Com2Us and Reddit and talking to people in the in-game channels. Then you welcome new members and encourage them to do all the little things that will help them fit in and help us be successful. You also kick people out now and then. Personally, I give people many chances to adapt and fit in before kicking them out. But it happens. We have great group today and our members need to be protected from people with crappy attitudes. You can delegate starting one or both of the battles. But you have to check in to make sure they happen. You update the guild messages. That kind of thing. It's not hard. You just have to be consistent and reliable.
At this point, I'll open it up for discussion. Let me know what you think.
